Description
LARRY BISHOP'S TRIGGER HAPPY (his preferred title but it was released as MAD DOG TIME), 1996 Shooting Script of 1996 United Artists film, Worldshakers Publishing (North Hollywood, CA), 8.4 x 5.5-inch well-bound PB with card stock covers, 120 pp., near-excellent condition (clean and tight, unbroken spine, bright covers and pages; tiny upturns at tips of front corners and upper rear one).Larry Bishop's father Joey Bishop was the comedian-turned-actor who was a member of Frank Sinatra's infamous Rat Pack and co-starred in its most famous movie OCEAN'S 11. He was born in Philadelphia in 1948, spent most of his childhood in New Jersey, then attended high school in Beverly Hills. He briefly performed with an improv troupe which included Rob Reiner, Albert Brooks and Richard Dreyfuss. He achieved cult status in the late 1960s-early 1970s - as hook-handed drummer Abraham in WILD IN THE STREETS (1968) and a scruffy biker in THE SAVAGE SEVEN (1968) ANGEL UNCHAINED (1970) and CHROME AND HOT LEATHER (1971). He had guest spots on many popular series throughout the 1970s but his acting career died in the 1980s. He bounced back in the mid-1990s by writing the script for cult dark mob comedy UNDERWORLD, then writing, directing and co-starring in TRIGGER HAPPY, which was briefly released in 1996 as MAD DOG TIME. Although it bombed at the box office, it attained cult status over the years. Richard Dreyfuss plays nutty mob boss Vic, who manages to gain release from an asylum and regain control of his outfit from trusted lieutenant Mickey Holliday (Jeff Goldblum). Then Vic finds out Mickey was shacking up with both Vic's moll Grace Everly (Diane Lane) and her sister Rita (Ellen Barkin). He wants to whack Mickey but needs him to fend off other mobsters plotting to kill him and take over his outfit. The cast was exceptional for an million film - including Michael J. Pollard, Henry Silva, Angie Everhart (pictured with Larry Bishop on the script's front cover), Gregory Hines, Kyle MacLachlan, Billy Idol,, Juan Fernandez, Burt Reynolds, Billy Drago, Paul Anka, Rob Reiner, Joey Bishop and Richard Pryor. Quentin Tarantino paid homage to Bishop by casting him in KILL BILL VOL. 2 as the ornery strip club manager Larry Gomez. Bishop's latest credit as director was the biker film homage HELL RIDE (2008), which he also wrote, produced and starred in.
