    Description

HEADSHOT 1, 2 & 3, SCRIPT: MATZ / ART: COLIN WILSON, undated but likely 2009-2010 3-part graphic novel created specifically for Warner Brothers, producer Arnon Milchan, and screenwriter Alessandro Camon, who were developing the French graphic novel DU PLOMB DANS LA TETE by Matz and Wilson as an American action movie, 11 x 8.5-inch PBs with illustrated plastic-protected front covers bound by small, tight wire spirals; 52 unnumbered pp. each with panels on the right side only, meaning each page is white at the back; excellent condition.
This project was developed as HEADHSOT even though the popular French graphic novel translated as LEAD TO THE HEAD. It came together with Walter Hill directing Sylvester Stallone as NYC hitman Jimmy Bobo and was released in Feb. 2012 as BULLET TO THE HEAD. The inciting event is a contract killing in Manhattan which sees Jimmy and a colleague named Louis break into a flat where a a dirty cop is having sex with a hooker. They kill the cop. But the unknown hiring authority betrays them and Louis is stabbed to death in a bar. Jimmy realizes he's next, unless he takes the fight to the bad guys. He teams up with an Asian-American cop (Sung Kang) and they go to New Orleans to take down a wicked crime lord with lots of protection. The big names among the supporting cast were Jason Momoa (later Aquaman but known as the time as the warrior leader on GAME OF THRONES) and Christian Slater. Although it generated mixed reviews and was far from a hit, Walter Hill and Sly made a formidable team and it's a gritty noir action movie. The books are high quality with remarkably vivid color panels printed on thick semi-glossy stock. They have much more impact than any normal graphic novel (PB or HB).
Per Charles Ardai, founder, Hard Case Crime, "Sharp and adult and bracing as a grain alcohol chaser. This is crime fiction for grown-ups."
It's exceedingly rare with no other copies on eBay or Google. FYI, the French author's real name is Alexis Nolent. There are three 2011 retail copies on eBay of the PB graphic novel
    BULLET TO THE HEAD
from Dynamite Entertainment, 2 from U.S. buyers. The cheaper one is very good with some cover wear for .99 + .83 shipping. My rare set of books from an early stage of film development is a great collectible for the right serious graphic novel fan.
The Buy-It-Now price of .99 includes shipping bubble-wrapped in a cardboard box via media mail, which takes around 7 days with tracking.
