    Description

    THE FOX (1967)
D.H. Lawrence (source) Howard Koch (screenwriter) London: Raymond Stross Productions, [ca. 1966]. Vintage original film script, UK. Quarto, printed talent agency wrappers, 111 leaves, with last leaf of text numbered 110. Photographically reproduced with copied punch holes, as issued. NEAR FINE in VERY GOOD wrappers, marginal tears to yapped edges, brad bound. Ex-library, deaccessioned.
Mark Rydell's summer-of-love film was adapted from D.H. Lawrence's 1922 novella of the same name, about a lesbian couple living on a rural farm, whose existence is disrupted by the arrival of a seaman whose grandfather used to own the farm. One of only a handful of US films to address the subject of lesbianism in the 1960s. "A subtle, almost unconsciously lesbian affair [in Lawrence's original novella]… became on film a hotly explicit obsession." (Alderson, p. 43. Russo, p. 164. Parish p. 84.).
