Description:
Final Rehearsal script for the radio drama, produced by the US Steel Corporation and presented by The Theatre Guild on the Air, originally broadcast January 18, 1953. With holograph pencil notation to the front wrapper.
Two Hungarian handwriting experts aid in the kangaroo court conviction of Jozsef Cardinal Mindszenty by Hungarian Communists, then flee to the West and expose the sham. Based on the true story of Hanna and Laszlo Sulner, who were compelled by the Soviet-dominated Hungarian government to testify against and discredit Mindszenty, who had openly opposed the Communist takeover. The Sulners reluctantly helped the court frame the Cardinal for treason, among other charges.
The radio drama series originated in the 1940s as Theatre Guild on the Air, and broadcast with the intent to bring Broadway theater to radio, adapting both classic and contemporary plays and drawing in leading actors such as Ingrid Bergman, Katharine Hepburn, and Gene Kelly. In October 1953 a television version of the series premiered, and was broadcast for a decade, the oldest surviving live anthology series on television.

Schoenfeld and source article writers Hanna and Laszlo Sulner. 69 leaves, with last page of text numbered 55. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only.
